The Wildlife Retreat at Taronga is an elegant Australian eco-retreat nestled within Taronga Zoo, overlooking magnificent Sydney Harbour. Here’s a look at the new digs and what to expect from a stay.

Sydney’s Taronga Zoo is preparing to open a new 62-room luxury ‘eco-retreat’ is taking bookings ahead of the official opening in October.

Following the initial $40 million hotel projected approved for Taronga Zoo the project is now up and running.

Guests of the Wildlife Retreat will have the chance to wake up to the rustling of a bandicoot or the call of a lyrebird, and to revel in the natural beauty of the surrounding bushland. From your stylishly appointed room, you can step out into a lush sanctuary where koalas and echidnas roam and platypus swim.

Choose to join guided tours with passionate keepers and guides, or simply connect with the wildlife and its habitat in their own time, reassured by the knowledge that their stay has made a meaningful difference to this not-for-profit, conservation-based organisation.

The Wildlife Retreat at Taronga will offer five environmentally sensitive and sustainably designed lodges built into the native bush with views across a wildlife sanctuary that is home to platypuses, koalas and echidnas.
