Hugh Jackman Wahroonga

We love hearing about a celebrity spotting… but when it’s Hollywood Royalty and Aussie Hugh Jackman, our excitement level goes through the roof! Hugh Jackman was in Wahroonga this afternoon, and did a spot of shopping at Grosgrain with wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

Hugh is back in Sydney for a holiday after an intensive tour of Australia and New Zealand for The Man. The Music. The Tour – which started in Sydney on 2 August, and visited Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Auckland with 27 shows. Phew!

Lisa from Grosgrain Homewares in Wahroonga was delighted to meet Hugh, saying, ‘He was just gorgeous. Very easy to chat with. We talked about how Wahroonga has changed since he grew up here as a boy and also that he attended Knox Grammar.’

Wahroonga seems to be a hot spot for celebrity spotting, with David and Victoria Beckham dropping into the Butcher’s Block last November on their way North to do some horse riding at Glenworth Valley.

Hugh graduated from Knox Grammar School in Wahroonga as School Captain in 1986, so is enjoying taking a trip down memory lane and visiting his old stomping grounds.

Hugh Jackman with HSC Drama students at Knox Grammar in 2012

When Hugh was in Sydney in 2012, he visited Knox to meet students and film a profile story for US television. The current Year 12 HSC drama students, who were rehearsing for this week’s examinations, met Jackman and had the opportunity to perform a drama piece for him. Knox Head of Drama, Michael Griffiths, said “Hugh was very engaged in the rehearsal that he witnessed and he gave boys some valuable feedback about their performances.”
