Take the family to Dural Christmas Tree Farm

If you want to get a real Christmas tree this year, there are lots of Christmas Tree Farms scattered all over Sydney. Enjoy a leisurely country drive to one of the farms for a festive family day out. Or, if you’re strapped for time, order online and get it delivered direct to your home. The smell of fresh pine is guaranteed to make you feel festive!

If you’re looking for a wonderful tradition to start with your kids to celebrate Christmas, visiting a local Christmas Tree farm to choose a tree for your home is a lovely festive activity.

In Sydney, Christmas Tree farms often open for ‘tagging’ in early to mid-November, when you can visit the farm and choose the tree you’d like in your home. Then, to ensure it’s nice and fresh throughout December, you can either get it delivered to your home or return to the farm to pick it up.

Trees vary in size… so you can choose a smaller one for a small room or a much bigger Christmas tree if you have space. Be sure to measure the height of your ceiling before you go, and don’t forget you’ll need room for a star or angel on the top!

Frequently Asked Questions about Real Christmas Trees

How long does a real Christmas tree last indoors?

If you take good care of your tree, Christmas trees should last at least five weeks indoors. If you purchase your real Christmas tree around the end of November, it should still be green by Christmas Day.

How do you make a real Christmas tree last longer?

Fill your real Christmas tree stand with water when you cut the trunk. This step is vital—the faster your tree gets water, the longer it will last. To ensure your tree stays hydrated, top up the stand regularly.

Should I spray my Christmas tree with water?

Yes! Fresh Christmas trees need water to remain bright and vibrant all season long. Ensure yours has plenty of water in the stand. You might also like to fill a spray bottle with room-temperature water and spritz your tree every few days—just be sure your lights are switched off and unplugged.

How do you save a Christmas tree?

Giving it water is the best way to save a dying real Christmas tree. Just like cut flowers, fresh Christmas trees need water to survive.

How can you tell if a Christmas tree is fresh?

Fresh Christmas trees have needles firmly attached to the branch – they shouldn’t just fall off. You can also check the trunk to see if it’s sticky. Stickiness is a sign of freshness
