The toddler slid is great for little kids

Whether you’re off to the Central Coast on a well-deserved holiday, or simply heading for the day to check out the sights, Leagues Club Park Gosford is worth the stop. This gem of a playground transforms into a water play space in the warmer months, and has plenty for the big kids to climb, run and explore. North Shore Mum’s reviewer Felicity Frankish shares what she found.

Leagues Club Park Gosford has been transformed into a stunning nature-inspired regional play space in the heart of Gosford’s CBD. I took my three kids, Cassie (7), Vivi (5) and Elliot (3) to check it out on our way home from a family weekend on the Central Coast. Here’s what we found.

Getting to Leagues Club Park in Gosford

While not on the North Shore, this park is just a 40-minute drive up the M1 from Wahroonga, and makes the perfect stop if you’re on your way to the Central Coast for a family holiday, or just a day trip! It’s a huge adventure playground, so well worth the extra time in the car!

There’s 4-hour free street parking just opposite the park, although it can get busy. You might find yourself travelling further down the road looking for a spot.

Views across the road

Within the Leagues Club Park, you’ll find BBQs, picnic tables (though none undercover), toilets, exercise equipment, three water refill stations, outdoor showers, grassed area to kick a ball around, path to ride on and nice views over to the Brisbane Waters.

Climbing Tower & Slide

Leagues Club Park Gosford

This epic slide is one of the highlights of the park

Not many parks can beat this epic twirly slide: the kids will love it. It starts at the top of the highest pod, which means kids need to climb to get there and enjoy the thrill of rushing down.

Bottom of the slide

The climbing tower has three entry points, with varying levels of difficulty. Vivi (5), was too small to climb up one of the tunnels due to her height. These ‘play pods’ have been designed to encourage unstructured play, climbing and exploration. They are connected by rope tunnels and culminate in a twisting slide back to the ground.

Toddler Slide

The toddler slide is just perfect for little legs. Elliot could have stayed there all morning, simply climbing up the hill and racing down the slide.

More Climbing!

You won’t find the traditional swings at this park, it’s full of nature play and plenty of climbing challenges for the kids. It’s perfect for kids who simply love to explore.

Suspended climbing frame for an added challenge

In the middle of the park, you will find this suspended climbing frame that kids can hang off, sing on, climb through and plenty more. It’s a little challenging, but even Elliot gave it a go and made his way through.

Tidal Terrace

One of the favourite features of this park is the tidal terrace. It brings the bay into the park through a shall waterway. This means that as the tide rises and falls, the sandstone animals will become submerged. Perfect in the summer months!

Kids made their own fun in the sand

When we visited it was mostly dry, but the kids dove in and got digging into the sand.

Filled with sandstone animal islands

The Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council played an integral part in the park’s design. The tidal terrace is filled with sandstone animal ‘islands’ inspired by the nearby Bulgandry art site, that are covered and exposed as the tide rises and falls.

There’s a viewing platform at the top that overlooks everything

The poles you see in the distance are part of an artwork by a local indigenous artist. The colours and symbols on the poles represent different Aboriginal nations and Country.
