Playground Review: Tuckwell Park, Macquarie Park

Tucked away in the heart of Macquarie Park, Tuckwell Park is a hidden gem that’s just waiting to be discovered by families looking for the perfect outdoor escape. As a mum always on the hunt for new adventures with my little ones, I recently took my three energetic kids to explore what Tuckwell Park has to offer.

I will admit that I stumbled across this park by accident. My three kids Cassie (8), Vivi (6) and Elliot (4) have started some soccer coaching, which happened to be on the oval next to this park. Since they all join in at different times, the playground has been a huge hit for keeping them entertained while they wait.

Getting to Tuckwell Park

If you’re coming from Pymble, then this park isn’t the easiest to get to. Unfortunately, there is no right-hand turn from Ryde Road, so you find yourself turning right at Macquarie Shopping centre and going around the block, or doing a u-turn to go back onto Ryde Road and turn left. The good news is, there is plenty of free parking spots right outside.

Nature Play

One of the first things you’ll notice about Tuckwell Park is the gorgeous natural setting. While there’s a big shade cloth over the top, it’s also surrounded by plenty of trees that also provide a touch of shade (and a great place to hide in a game of Hide-and-Seek.

Play Equipment at Tuckwell Park

The tunnel slide is a highlight

The tunnel slide was a highlight for all three kids at this playground. It’s built up on a soft play area and just calls for a game of Princesses, Knights and castles. The kids loved climbing all around it (and even onto the slide), making up their own games as they went. With races up to the top and bottom and plenty of chasing games, it was perfect for inspiring a little imaginative play.

Toddler area

There’s also a mini toddler area down the bottom with a mini rock-climbing wall, tunnel and slide for the kids to enjoy.

Great net for kids to scramble up

If your kids love climbing, there’s also a net on one side that kids can use to scramble up to the top and head to the slide. Perfect for those kids who enjoy a nice challenge. On the other side there is a rope that kids can use to get to the top as well.

Swing set for the kids

There is also a swing set with a toddler swing and a big-kid swing that the kids loved taking turns on.

Great path for kids to scoot around

If your kids love scooting about there is a path that leads from the park over to the oval that they can chase their way on.

Facilities

Toilet building

The great news is there is a toilet block at the playground, which is nice and handy with little kids.

Unfortunately, there playground itself isn’t fenced in, but the kids can’t go too far. If they run off behind the park they will find themselves on the oval.

It’s only the other side that opens to the end of the carpark, so you need to keep a closer watch.

Bring a ball along and the kids have plenty of space to enjoy a game of soccer, or even fly a kite. Lots of space to run!
