First Day of School Gallery 2023

The First Day of School is always an important milestone for kids, whether they’re starting daycare, Kindy, Year 5, Year 7 or Year 12! It’s usually a time for a new teacher, some new classmates… and no doubt a pair of shiny new shoes. Taking a photo on that big first day is a rite of passage, but in years to come, it’s helpful to remember what year it was when they’re holding up a sign!

For the last seven years, North Shore Mums has released a set of First Day of School signs – which go from daycare right through to Year 12. And 2023 is no different. We think there’d be a bit of an outcry if we stopped doing them, as they’ve become a tradition for so many families.

Every year, it just gets harder and harder to choose our favourite photos from our annual First Day of School promotion. After looking through hundreds of gorgeous photos, we’re delighted to share our favourite photos from North Shore Mums families of local kids on their First Day of School for 2023.

First day of kindy for Joshua

‘Joshua is my youngest so I knew today was going to be tough for me. The last ever time I would walk one of my babies to Kindergarten, last time I will experience this milestone. I started crying before I even entered the gate, not wanting to let go. Joshua on the other hand was off, did not look back, so excited to begin this next stage of his life. I hid my tears well and shared the excitement with him. Despite him not knowing anyone he was more than happy to embark on this journey, if only I had half his courage. Tomorrow I will hold them back, well until I leave the gate!’
