With the cost of living continuing to rise in Sydney, families are facing many financial pressures. When your child is sick, you don’t want to money worries to stop you from visiting the doctor. Fortunately, there are lots of medical centres on Sydney’s North Shore that bulk bill children, so you have no out-of-pocket expenses for the appointment.
What is bulk billing?
Bulk billing means you donโt have to pay for your medical service from a health professional. The medical centre bills Medicare, they accept the Medicare benefit as full payment for the service.
How do you get bulk billed?
Remember to take your Medicare Card with you to the appointment, so that Medicare covers the full amount. You will usually not have to pay anything at the time of the appointment. If you are required to pay, it will be refunded in full by Medicare soon after.
What if my child is sick late at night?
If your child is sick after hours (at night or during the weekend), you can use the National Home Doctor service, which is also bulk billed. Simply call 13 SICK (13 7425) or visit their website.
