Does your child love to paint, draw, take photos, dance, play music or write poetry? Then encourage them to take part in this incredible Children’s Online Art Exhibition, “I Spy with my Little Eye’, brought to you by North Sydney Council.
This year, local councils have had to think of new and creative ways about how they can create a sense of community. With COVID-19 restrictions limiting outdoor public events, the annual ‘North Sydney Children’s Festival’ has been replaced with a Children’s Online Art Exhibition called ‘I Spy with my Little Eye’.
Children’s Online Art Exhibition: “I Spy with my Little Eye”
Popular guessing game turned into a Children’s Online Art Exhibition – I Spy with my Little Eye invites children aged 4 to 12 years old to show us the world through their eyes.
Children and families are encouraged to play I Spy with my Little Eye and then express their unique worldview through a creative medium of their choice. Ideas include:
- painting
- drawing
- photograph
- piece of music
- dance routine
- poem
- … or something else entirely!
Then, simply submit this piece of artwork before 31 October 2020, and it may be chosen for display in a Children’s Online Art Exhibition.
Artworks will be added to an online exhibition on Instagram and YouTube as they are received and will be viewable until 30 November.

“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is my favourite movie. This is a drawing of my house. It is raining hamburgers and sardines.” Charlie, 6
North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson said she was excited to see the remarkable creativity and resilience of children on display.
“Children have an honest and inventive perspective on our daily lives. I Spy with My Little Eye is a timely children’s art project – serving as a great opportunity for families to talk about the changing world around them. I am excited to peek into our children’s extraordinary minds expressed through art. Stop and look at the world around you, get creative, join in the fun and share your children’s creativity with us.”

“Daddy is working from home, so we can have fish and chips for together for lunch. This is a painting of a boat we saw.” Max, 4
This Children’s Online Art Exhibition is brought to you by North Sydney Council… but you don’t have to live in the North Sydney local government area to get involved. They’d love all children from across the North Shore to share their beautiful artwork in this online gallery!
