Nestled on the harbourside, explore over 90 mesmerising artworks as the Coal Loader transforms into a captivating gallery. From the hidden coal loading tunnels and chambers beneath to the stunning views of the harbour on top, these spaces will feature a diverse array of artworks including paintings, sculptures and installation works that dive into themes of sustainability, the impact of climate change and consumerism, inspiring visitors of all ages.

Drop-in Creative Fun Sundays
Children will have an opportunity to dive into the art world and all things sustainability through hands-on activities like Drop-in Creative Fun Sundays, where they can experiment with unconventional art materials and techniques.

Eco Playgroup
The Coal Loader is also holding several public programs for the whole family, including a free eco playgroup, perfect for children aged 2 to 5 years. Weaving Connections Workshop with Dr Virigina Keft
For the older kids and adults, Weaving Connections provides a supportive environment in which to connect with others while sharing the fundamentals of weaving. The yarning circle is continuous and non-hierarchical – a harmonious, creative and collaborative space. To underpin the collective nature of the circle, participants, are invited to contribute woven pieces to a collaborative artwork.
This workshop is for people 16 years and over. No prior experience is necessary; whether this is your first time or you are a master weaver, all are welcome. Bookings essential for this FREE workshop.
Yarn Up with Jamie Eastwood
Dive into the world of renowned Darug artist Jamie Eastwood. Jamie’s remarkable artwork celebrates a deep sense of place and connection to culture, capturing the essence of Darug heritage.
Jamie will share insights into his creative process, what inspires his art, and his mission to represent and preserve culture through his captivating work. It’s a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artist about the stories and traditions woven into his pieces.

Artisan Markets
On Sunday 2 June, they’re wrapping up the Art Prize with one of Sydney’s best artisan markets, the Coal Loader Artisan Markets. Only held four times a year, you can meet the makers as you browse their art, ceramics, eco-products, basketry, jewellery and much more.
And don’t worry about your caffeine fix – they’ve got you covered! A brand-new café has opened its doors at the Coal Loader, serving up a delightful selection of locally sourced brews and snacks.
