Cryopsa treatments are the perfect pampering option for Kirsten Kane, a North Shore Mums Discoverer and mum of two primary school aged kids! The chance to calm and soothe her mind while enjoying some health benefits was a wonderful day out. Here’s her review.
Cryopsa treatments are a real treat, and when my chance came to road-test a session, I was quick to say yes! I must admit it’s been a while since I’ve taken some proper time out for myself and believe me, this is the way to do it. The feeling afterwards is like you’ve just been on a holiday…but without the kids! I want to go again. Birthday coming up? Gift to yourself? Part of your New Year’s resolution? Any excuse will do, just get along to a Cryospa treatment!
I was booked in for three treatments (taking around 1 hour and 45 minutes all up).
- Cryotherapy
- Infrared sauna with chromotherapy
- The salt room
This was my first time having Cryopsa treatments so I was very excited and interested to see what it was all about.
Cryopsa treatments #1: Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy has a huge number of health benefits, so I was very interested to try it! It’s said to reduces inflammation, helps with weight loss, increases skin elasticity, decreases injury and recover time, aids memory and cognitive functions, improves sleep quality and energy levels and strengthens the immune system. Wow!
After stripping down to my underwear, throwing on a robe, ugh boots and gloves (all provided), I was ready. You step into the space looking machine and have your head sticking out the top so you won’t feel claustrophobic. And WOW, what an experience. It got to -125 degrees and I was in it for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. That’s definitely a great way to wake up and feel alive. Very exhilarating! It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before. You step into the machine, take off your robe and pretty much freeze. But don’t worry, it’s manageable. It’s only for a short time and the feeling was definitely worth it. My skin felt so fresh and tingly. I went for a run before this session and my legs were feeling quite tired and heavy but that just seemed to go.
Now, don’t worry, you’re not left in the machine by yourself. The lovely Clarisse was there to control the machine and to make sure everything was okay.
I felt amazing after it but there are also many health benefits to Cryopsa treatments like this one.
Cryopsa treaments #2: Infrared sauna with Chromotherapy
How about your own private sauna with your choice of music or watching something on Netflix while you sit and sweat it out? This place has the perfect set up. It has an iPad attached to the wall outside the sauna that you can watch. I chose some ‘spa’ music and just relaxed. Such a luxury! And relax I did – for 30 minutes in 66-degree heat. It is infrared heat which is the healthiest kind of rays that penetrate into your skin deeply and dissolve harmful substances accumulated in your body. Chromotherapy (the use of specific colours to influence health and wellbeing) is done through a light box in the roof of the sauna and adds a lovely feel to the whole experience.
There’s a great selection of magazines to read and lots of water provided (thank goodness – I needed it!).
Straight after a cold shower in one of the lovely private shower rooms, I could see the benefits to my skin straight away. It felt amazing. So soft and smooth. No amount of moisturiser could do this! I thought I’d be tired after sweating so much but it’s actually the opposite. I felt invigorated and had a spring in my step.
What about the other health benefits of Cryopsa treatments like this? Infrared sauna with chromotherapy helps the body detoxify, promotes relaxation and better sleep, aids in pain relief, weight loss, improves circulation and skin rejuvenation.
Cryopsa treatments #3: Himalayan Salt Room Therapy with Chromotherapy
Moving onto my third treatment. I really am feeling like a VIP at this stage. The 28-degree room is full of fine salt mist which is very pleasant. Chromotherapy is coming through the clear brick walls surrounding you. Himalayan pink salt crystals cover the floor and complete the perfect salt room environment. There are three very comfortable loungers with magazines available on side tables. This is the perfect space for relaxing and clearing your mind.
I felt a bit spoilt having 45 minutes to do just nothing. After reading through a couple of magazines, I decided to close my eyes and just relax. It was lovely. I was in my own little world and the time spent in there seemed to re-boot and re-energise me for the rest of the day ahead. I felt great.
It’s important to note that Salt Therapy is safe for all ages, even kids and pregnant women. They even have toys available! The many benefits are impressive…kills viruses, bacteria and allergens; promotes relaxation, calmness and better sleep; helps to alleviate depression, anxiety and stress; elevates mental concentration and performance and strengthens the immune system. It seems wrong not to do it!
I would recommend the 3 treatments together to get the full benefit. This is a great chance to relax and get many health benefits at the same time. The whole place has a lovely feel to it and you’re well looked after by Clarisse from the moment you arrive to when you leave. I was provided with all the information I needed throughout the whole session. Clarisse was with me for the Cryotherapy and set me up for my other treatments and then left me to relax. It is very private. You have the room to yourself (unless you have booked as a group) and there are private showers too. The website offers lots of information on the therapies and the health benefits.
