Looking for the ultimate birthday party for your child this summer? A party at Raging Waters is guaranteed to be something they’ll be raving about for years! North Shore Mums Founder, Rachel Chappell, organised a joint party for her daughter and BFF’s 10 year old birthday, and shares her review.

My eldest daughter Scarlett and her bestie, Heidi (who are born within a week of each other) celebrated their 8th birthday parties at the awesome water park when it was Wet’n’Wild in 2018. They loved it so much, they wanted to do it all over again two years later! So, on a 36 degree weekday in January, me and her mum took ten kids out to Raging Water for their second combined birthday party!

Our birthday party at Raging Waters

Raging Waters opens at 10am, so we arranged to collect the children from their homes around 9am. We each have big 7-seater cars, so could take five children each. Raging Water is located at Prospect, which is a reasonable 30-40 minute drive from main suburbs on the North Shore like Chatswood, Gordon & Wahroonga.

After checking in with Guest Services and entering through the gates, we were met by our birthday party host, who took us to the dedicated shaded party area in the middle of the water park. As it was a weekday, we were lucky to get the whole massive space to ourselves! It was also very close to the toilets and lockers, which was very convenient.

After settling into our spot and touching up the sunblock, the kids couldn’t wait to get sliding! With excited squeals, we were off to explore the huge water park (the biggest in Sydney!).

We spent the day trying out as many slides as we could, and also spent lots of time relaxing in the Dinosaur Lagoon on inflatable rings, and ducking the huge waves at Australia’s largest Wave Pool. With breaks for lunch and cake, the day absolutely flew! We were there from 10am-4pm, and they really didn’t want to go when it was time to leave!

Birthday Party Food

Lunch is included in the Raging Waters Birthday Party package. When you arrive, kids choose between a cheese or pepperoni pizza, and select a soft drink. Garlic bread is included too! You can choose between two windows for lunch, and the tables are right next to the pizzas oven.

The Birthday Party package also includes ice cream cake, which hit the spot perfectly when we needed a mid-afternoon sugar hit to keep the energy levels high. Again, you just let them know what time you’d like them (so no need for them to be sitting in the sun for hours).

The Raging Waters Birthday Party Packages

The party package from Raging Waters Sydney

The Ultimate Party Package at Raging Waters Sydney is great value. You need a minimum of 10 guests, and it’s $59.99 per child, but this includes pretty much everything you need for the day, including:

  • Admission for the day of the party
  • Ice cream cake – or the option to bring your own cake
  • Reserved birthday area
  • Free entry for two supervising parents/guardians
  • Discounted additional adult admissions
  • Kids birthday lunch (slice of pizza, garlic bread and drink)
  • Special gift for the birthday child
  • Souvenir gift for each birthday guest
  • Raging Waters Sydney birthday invitations for you to print at home

With just two adults supervising, we agreed that 10 children was plenty for us to look after. And by sharing the party, we also shared the cost – so it was just $300 per family.

Tips for a stress-free birthday party at Raging Waters

Be sun smart!

Obviously, if you’re spending the whole day in the sun… it’s imperative to slip, slop and slap.

  • Suggest that all kids wear a long rash vest to give them maximum coverage
  • Ask parents to ensure they have a layer of 50+ sunscreen before they leave the house.
  • You can’t wear hats or sunnies on the slides, so make sure you don’t miss the hair part.

Obviously, supervising party parents need to ensure kids reapply sunscreen every couple of hours (lunch and cake time is the perfect opportunity!).

Pack thongs!

By the afternoon, the ground can get very hot! Ask all kids to wear a pair of thongs that they are happy to leave at the bottom of each tower. This avoids the painful dash from tower to tower on the hot concrete!

Pack extra snacks!

Lots of active fun in the sun creates big appetites. We packed bottles of water, individual packets of chips, fruit & lollies (it was a party, after all!) and more.

Get a locker for valuable items

It’s definitely worth getting a locker for your phone, wallet, keys and other valuable items, so you don’t need to worry about leaving them unattended in your bag!

What the kids had to say

Big smiles from Heidi & Scarlett, the birthday girls!

It may have been stress-free (and actually, a LOT of fun) for the adults organising the party, but did the kids enjoy it too? Here’s what they had to say:

‘My Raging Waters party was the best birthday party I’ve ever had. It was the best day of my life! Going down those slides was super fun, and the wave pool was lots of fun too. I want to go back and do it all over again.’ – Scarlett, Birthday Girl, 10 years old.

‘It was so much fun and the slides were incredible. It was the best party ever.’ – Heidi, Birthday Girl, 10 years old.
