First Day of School Winner 2021: The Gallery

Abby Solomon, Petersham

“Hamish and Ivy were so brave on their first day of kindergarten. Mum was the only one who cried!” – Abby.

Amy Wang, North Willoughby

“It was Simone’s first day of her preschool. She didn’t cry, finish all her morning tea and lunch, I’m so proud of her!” – Amy.

Aya Hassan, Ryde

“Omar was very happy back to school. He loves the idea of taking a photo for first day at year 3. Malak was happy too to take first photo at the preschool.” – Aya.

Belinda Futter, Beecroft

“Excited and happy to go on her first day of school! Even managed to carry her huge backpack by herself!” – Belinda.

Cathy Lim, Killara

“Both were running to get out the door today after holding up these fab North Shore Mums printables, but mum wasn’t quite so ready for them to start school yet!” – Cathy.

Corinne Dosoruth, Marsfield

“This is my son changing schools at year 5. New school and very sudden decision so he is nervous. We registered him for Year 7 in 2023 but last October the school told us there was a spot for year 5. He got in and we didn’t have time to mentally prepare to leave his other school. The last two months have been an emotional roller coaster as we prepare him and us to leave his old school. He had only 6 weeks to come to terms with this. So did we. Lots of tears from mama today. Grieving the old school and embracing the new.” – Corinne.

Eugenia Obando, Chatswood

“The excitement!! He’s been looking forward to this day for months!” – Eugenia.

Kirsten MacKinnon, Berowra

“On the first day of school, my Kindy child was roaring and ready to go! It’s been a long time coming. Meanwhile, my Year 2 boys loves rules and routine and school is his home away from home.” – Kirsten.

Su-Anne Foo, Waitara

“Here are my kids – Sophie and Benji. The kids were looking forward to their first day at school. Mummy was excited too! (That would mean she gets 2 days of children-free days in a week. Yesss! Off she goes to Spotlight for weekend deals.) The GIF animation perfectly sums up my kid’s feeling on their first day for school.

Note: Our printer ran out of ink, so Mummy had to do a bit of coloring and got carried away with decorating them too!” – Su-Anne

Zoe Cheung, Artarmon

“My daughter Jasmine feels very excited for her first day kindergarten. She is quite shine and finger cross a bit when she arrived school and saw her teacher in the morning. I am first time to make a lunch box to her for school too. After school, she told me that the lunch box is too big and cannot eat it all… however after back home, she opened the lunch box and ate it all… I guess she may too excited to play with new friend and forgot to eat during recess time and lunch!” – Zoe
