When I contacted Tara to book our newborn photo shoot, she replied promptly and professionally.
A few days before the photo shoot, Tara emailed me to explain exactly what to expect on the day.
Tara warms the studio to 28 degrees. She provides all props and clothes for the newborn. She recommends that the rest of the family wear a pastel or similar colour with no bold logos or prints. She also recommends that Mum wear a sleeveless top with straps so that they can easily be folded down for the shoot. She reassures parents that she understands that newborn shoots take around three hours so there is no pressure and everyone can relax. She allows plenty time for feeding, changing and settling.
Tara welcomed us into her home and ushered us into her studio. Her studio is light, bright and filled with gorgeous newborn props. Adjacent to her studio is a play room area where siblings can play.
Tara is friendly and calm. She has the patience of a saint and nothing fazes her.
The first photos that she took were of my girls aged 4 and 2. She carefully propped them on a bean bag covered with a soft, luxurious, fluffy throw.

My newborn was then added to the mix. The girls then went to play next door. They had a snack and relaxed whilst my husband had photos with our newborn daughter.
The next few family photos were of me with our bub, my hubbie and me with her as well as a family photo of our new family of five.

Tara then recommended that my husband take the girls to a local park so that they didn’t get too bored.
Tara creatively set up different scenes using magnificent props. She wrapped our newborn in soft wraps. If our newborn became unsettled she would happily stop the shoot and let me feed her.
Her studio is warm and cosy. She plays gentle white noise to soothe the newborn and has the magic settling touch.
Tara patiently perfected each shot. She paid carefully attention to bub’s positioning, safety and comfort. She used her props artistically and ensured that each photo turned out exactly the way that she visualised.

The shoot took around three hours. Whilst Tara was perfecting one of her shots, I paged through some of her bespoke photo books. Tara is definitely incredibly talented, creative and artistic.
Her attention to detail really shows in her images. Her pregnancy photo shoots capture the beauty of a pregnant mother.
A few days later, Tara was in touch to arrange a private viewing session.
Tara also offers all her newborn clients a free, stunning Birth Announcement Video. My husband and I were literally brought to tears with the beauty and emotion that Tara captures in this video.

ABOUT TARA WARD
Tara has completed a newborn photography workshop with Kelly Brown who is considered one of Australia’s best newborn photographers. She also has a Certificate IV in graphic design from Shillington College. Tara was mentored and trained in photography by a local Sydney photographer.
