It doesn’t get much better than a brand-new skate park right here on the North Shore! Blackman Skate Park in Lane Cove opened on 24 April 2024 with a mini ramp, central spine, quarter pipe, tight quarter pip, flat bank hip and mellow bank to keep kids of all ages entertained.
The newly upgraded Blackman Skatepark in Lane Cove has been built over the existing skatepark to make way for more challenging elements. Blackman Skatepark is bigger and better than before accommodating spectators and a range skateboarder.
The park features innovative designs aimed at skill progression from beginner through to advanced levels and includes amenities like seating with shade, a drinking fountain, and unique artistic elements that contribute to its local identity.
Blackman Skatepark at Lane Cove features:
- Intermediate Skill Level – The design has provision for skill progression, allowing for beginners through to advanced levels, noting that most current users are intermediate.
- Skate Vision- An interesting creative facility which is made of transition style obstacles that are unique and create flow; including a mini ramp, rationalised central spine, quarter pipe, tight quarter pipe, flat bank hip and mellow bank.
- User and Spectator Amenity – A space for spectators and different user groups with break out areas, a drinking fountain and shade.
- Iconic Elements and Local Identity – A range and choice of benefits and experiences that include active and passive recreation within a natural bushland setting.
- Safe Access – Anti-climb fence to north edge plus relocation of entry gate.
This project by Lane Cove Council and Totem Skateboarding illustrates a commitment to fostering active lifestyles and providing inclusive, well-designed recreational spaces.
