Narwal Flow Review: The Self-Cleaning Robot Vacuum that took my floors to the next level

As a mum of three kids (10, 8 and 7) plus a dog, keeping our floors clean feels like a full-time job. Between school shoes, snack crumbs, craft glitter, and the occasional muddy paw prints, I used to spend more time vacuuming than I’d like to admit. A year ago, I bought my first robot vacuum, and honestly, it was a total game-changer. It quickly became my silent little cleaning sidekick. But now, I’ve upgraded to the brand-new Narwal Flow, and let me tell you, it’s taken things to a whole new level.

I’m not great with tech, but the setup was super easy. I downloaded the app, connected the Flow to Wi-Fi, and within 30 minutes had the whole house mapped and the first clean underway. The app shows every room clearly, so you can name them (like “kitchen,” “kids’ rooms,” or “dog zone”) and set cleaning preferences for each one — how much suction to use, how much water for mopping, and how many passes it should make.

I love that I can completely customise how it cleans. For example, I can tell it to do a quick vacuum in the hallway before school or give the kitchen a deep mop after dinner. Once it’s mapped, you can even create no-go zones (like under the Lego table!) or set it to clean while you’re out.

My top 6 reasons to check out the new Narwal Flow

1. It cleans itself!

I love how modern the base looks (and practical too!)

Here’s the part I love most about the Narwal Flow: I never have to clean the vacuum.

Yep, you read that right. This clever robot actually washes and dries itself. It has a clean water tank, a dirty water tank, and automatically scrubs its mop heads after each use. It even dries them with hot air, so there’s no soggy smell or mouldy mop situation (which, if you’ve used robot mops before, you know is a real thing).

I used to dread having to rinse out the mops or empty grimy trays. Now, I just press start, and it does everything. It even empties the dust on its own. I can go days without touching it.

2. Smart enough to avoid kids, toys… and pets!

Our cheeky boy Percy is constantly getting in the way

With three kids, there’s always something left on the floor… LEGO, socks, hair ties, or an abandoned Hot Wheels car. The Flow uses TwinAI Dodge Obstacle Avoidance, which means it actually sees what’s in front of it. It recognises over 200 types of objects with crazy precision and dodges them like a pro.

No more tangled hairbrushes or stolen Barbie shoes. It quietly glides around the chaos like it knows my house better than I do.

Alerting me that Percy is in the way

If Percy (our dog) decides to have a nap mid-clean, the Flow goes around him… and even takes a photo in the app so I can see what it avoided (so cute!). Later, it quietly returns to that spot and finishes the job. You can even label “pet areas” in the app so it cleans those zones extra thoroughly, because let’s face it, pets are messy.

One of the many photos I get sent through the app…

3. Fresh water mopping that actually works

This was another standout for me. Unlike other robot mops that drag around the same dirty water, the Flow constantly uses clean water while it mops. It scrubs with heated water and real pressure, so my tiles actually look freshly cleaned, not just wiped over.

And the EdgeReach Mop System? A lifesaver. In the kitchen, where crumbs and food love to hide in corners, the mop literally extends out from the side of the vacuum to reach right up against the skirting boards. I’ve never seen that before, it’s brilliant and leaves no spot untouched.

4. Powerful suction and no tangling!

Those clean carpet lines… with no hair tangled!

We have Percy, our adorable non-shedding dog, so thankfully, pet hair isn’t a big issue in our house — but I shed like there’s no tomorrow. With my old robot vacuum, this was a nightmare. I’d constantly find hair tangled around the brushes and wheels, and every few weeks I’d end up on the floor with a screwdriver trying to cut it free.

The Narwal Flow’s DualFlow Tangle-Free System has completely changed that. The new roller and side brushes are designed to shift and flex as they move, automatically detangling hair before it can wrap. After a whole week of cleaning, I checked underneath expecting the usual mess — but there was nothing caught at all. The brushes were still spotless.

Then there’s the CarpetFocus Technology, which honestly blew me away. As soon as the Flow moves from hard floors to carpet, it automatically lowers the brush cover and boosts suction up to 22,000Pa for a deep, powerful clean. It digs deep into the fibres to pull up dust, crumbs and stray hair I didn’t even know were there. My rugs and hallway carpet have never looked (or felt) cleaner.

5. Customised cleaning modes

One of my favourite features is how flexible the cleaning options are. For each session, you can choose between:

  • Vacuum only
  • Vacuum then mop
  • Vacuum and mop simultaneously
  • Mop only
  • Custom clean allows you to choose specific rooms or zones and set the mode and water flow for each.

So, if the kids’ rooms need a quick vacuum but the kitchen needs a full mop, it’s easy to set up in seconds.

6. A quiet overachiever

I can’t get over how quiet this vacuum is. My old one used to sound like a plane taking off. The Flow, though, hums softly in the background… so quiet that the kids actually let me run it while they watch TV. That’s a parenting win.

The navigation is incredibly smooth, and the built-in HeyNarwal Voice Assistant means you can start or stop a clean just by talking to it. (If you have Google, Alexa, or Siri, it’ll chat with those too!)

It also has a 120-day self-empty base, so the dust bag only needs changing every few months. Between that and the self-washing mop, this vacuum genuinely takes “set and forget” to a whole new level.

Final verdict…

The Narwal Flow is a premium model at $2,999, but with the early bird offer of $2,499 (from 10–31 October 2025), it’s hard to pass up. For me, it’s more than a vacuum; it’s time back in my day. My floors are spotless, my house feels fresher, and I’ve finally stopped stressing about the endless mess that comes with kids and pets.

Honestly, it’s the closest thing to having a live-in cleaner. Once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.
