If you’re looking for a natural playground, set amongst the trees with plenty for your kids to climb up, down and around, then pop Hammond Playground in Chatswood on your list of places to visit! Melissa took her daughter along for a play and shares her review.

This nature park is surrounded by plenty of trees
My three-year-old and I have always loved exploring playgrounds around the North Shore and we stumbled upon the Hammond Playground one day in search of a nice picnic spot to enjoy our takeaway from Chatswood. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a spacious playground just a stone’s throw away from Chatswood Chase. Here’s what we found.
Getting to Hammond Playground
Hammond Park is conveniently located in the heart of Chatswood, a block from Chatswood Chase. The carpark at the upper section of Beauchamp Park has room for approximately 15-18 cars and is accessed from Nicholson Street. It is close to the sportsground, and linked to the playground and picnic area by a long continuous path.
There is free 2-hour parking all along Beauchamp Ave, Darling St and Nicholson St which surrounds the park/playground.
With so many activities on offer, what we love most about Hammond Park is the large open space and its beautiful lush surroundings. Once you arrive, it’s easy to forget where you are!
All-Ages Play Space

Balance beam for kids to climb over
Hammond Playground is a gorgeous ‘natural’ space, complete with lots of rocks to climb, trees to run around and sit under on hot days and wooden balance beams to crawl and climb over.
You will find:
- 2 swing sets
- Sandpit
- Slides
- Balancing beams
- Spinning carousels
- Flying fox
- Climbing frames

There are two swings sets for kids to enjoy!
The playground is nicely segregated in several areas by walkways and the equipment caters to many different ages and interests.

The flying fox is always a highlight

This double slide is perfect for races
It is also complete with different kinds of sculptures such as a wooden boat and various animals for any pretend play lovers. One unique part to mention about the playground is also the sign language posts which our very own alphabet enthusiast has always enjoyed spotting and learning from during our visits there!

You’ll find sign language posts around the park
And although the areas are not clearly grouped by age, there is plenty space around each piece of equipment for children to play safely and I think is the perfect play space for siblings to enjoy.
