At Black Belt Martial Arts Hornsby we are experts in teaching Martial Arts. Here you’ll find premium programs, a full-time martial arts academy, and a friendly & diverse community of people, united by a passionate desire to be the best we can be.
Our programs are inclusive and suitable for everyone – kids (from 3 years), teens & adults of all ages.

Our friendly accredited Instructors see the ‘inner black belt’ in everyone. We know that every moment ‘on the mats’ is an opportunity to learn something new about ourselves. At BBMA Hornsby you’ll learn how to set and achieve goals, deal effectively with stress and the challenges of daily life, and (of course) learn how to defend yourself – improving your self-confidence, fitness, strength and flexibility along the way.
BBMA Kids develop their physical skills – dynamic movement, coordination, agility, strength & balance in fun, safe and age-appropriate Karate programs. They develop their powers of focus & concentrate (fantastic school-readiness skills!) while learning about BBMA Black Belt values (like courtesy & respect) and the traditional Karate ‘way’ – leading a life of kindness, contribution & non-violence.
And our parents love our ‘whole of life’, child safety & self defence lessons – including the most up-to-date mindfulness & anti-bullying strategies & techniques.
Our Black Belt Teachers hold Australian National Coaching Association (NCAS) qualifications assessed & accredited by the Australian Karate Federation. Our full time teachers are accredited Mental Health First Aiders with the MHFA, and certified (fully trained) Rock and Water Trainers. BBMA Hornsby is an accredited member of the Australian Karate Federation – the official governing body of Karate in Australia.

There are not enough words to express what a difference Black Belt Martial Arts Hornsby has made to my life and the lives of my husband and two daughters!
We took our 9 year old in for a trial class and were so impressed by the way the staff worked with all the kids and created such a positive, nurturing, safe and fun family-orientated environment that my husband and I found ourselves also trialling a class and signing up as students.
I was 45 at the time, very unfit and had lost sight of who I was – I had slipped into the mindset of feeling like I was “just a working mum” with not much time left for me. Sensei Josh told me that if I stuck with it, trusted him and didn’t quit, BBMA would get me to black belt. I didn’t really believe it and certainly couldn’t “see” myself as a black belt. But I enjoyed the classes – they gave me strength, have increased my fitness and stability, my focus, flexibility and overall health. The classes are my “headspace” time.
Fast forward 5 years and I achieved my black belt last year at the age of 50 with my husband and youngest daughter! My confidence and self esteem has increased dramatically and I am still discovering who I am and all my possibilities! Our eldest daughter also took up karate and we all love training together. When they say that every “child” is unique, I am the living proof that BBMA Hornsby understands that every “student” is unique! This is not just a great place for kids – it is martial arts training for all ages!
My 4yr old daughter has been attending for the past 9months. We have been so impressed, there is a great welcoming atmosphere and the teachers are just fantastic. They manage to have a great high energy fun session whilst also teaching the kids courtesy, respect and discipline.
We started with enrolling our two kids, the classes are so fantastic we decided to enrol as well. We love being able to attend classes together as a complete family and learn such important life skills. Sensei Jordan is such a skilled and personable teacher. We always leave our classes feeling energised and with a smile on our faces.
My son has attended BBMA for 5 years, since he was 2. They are so good with kids, and taught my son so much, self defence, confidence, coordination and so much more. I highly recommend this studio.
