Before I became a parent, I thought baby monitors were overrated. Living in a two-story home quickly changed that perspective, as I found myself constantly running upstairs to check on our baby. Over the years we’ve had a simple audio monitor, a video monitor and iPhone baby monitor apps. Our first thoughts in the newborn days
There is nothing more daunting than bringing home your baby for the first time. It doesn’t matter whether it’s your first baby, or in our case baby number three, it’s always a big adjustment as you get used to another little person in your home.
We received this monitor just after coming home from the hospital and have since been blown away by its ease of use and awesome list of features. Finding a monitor with a good camera is always a challenge. It’s often hard to place a monitor to get a good view of your little one, and by night time the vision often becomes grainy at best. The amazing birds eye view allows us to enjoy a full picture of our little one. The camera came with a sleek and sturdy wall mounting kit which allowed us to set the camera at the perfect height, saved space and best of all, I know the camera is secure – no concerns about it falling on our sleeping beauty! What’s more, the camera can easily be tilted around to give us a full view of her room.
Plus, with the monitor’s 1080p HD Sony wide angle lens, it not only offers crystal-clear vision, but it’s so smart it knows when our angel is smiling and snaps a picture and saves it in the app for us! Add in the HD night vision, and it’s so easy to see when our baby is sleeping soundly or starting to wake. More impressively, the night vision camera doesn’t use a red light, which can be distracting for little babies trying to get to sleep.
Crystal clear nighttime vision
The monitor works by pairing to your smart phone and is a super simple setup – just scan the QR code on the instructions to get the app on your device and follow the prompts to connect with your phone. Once connected, as long as you have internet, the range is unlimited. This means you can be out on a date night and have a quick peek when the babysitter has put your bundle down for the evening.

Covered face alerts
Smart computer vision can recognise and notify you if baby’s face is covered by a blanket or swaddle, which is super handy considering how dangerous this can be for new babies. It was the perfect peace of mind in those early newborn days, knowing our baby was completely safe in her cot, and that we would be notified if anything changed.
True Cry Detection
Unlike other monitors we’ve had that will light up the moment there is a noise in baby’s room, the Cubo Ai Plus Smart Baby Monitor uses its smart technology to detect true cry and only alerts us for that. It means that our sleep isn’t disturbed during the night when our little one is simply stirring. Within the app, you can also adjust the sensitivity for this to suit the level you are comfortable with.
Temperature and Humidity
A smart little sensor on the camera unit monitors room temperature and humidity. You can then set your own comfort ranges in the app and have your phone alert you if these fall outside your desired range. Bringing home a baby in the middle of Winter, this feature was a real lifesaver. It meant we could set a comfortable temperature in the room and know our baby would stay warm enough all night long.
Sleep analytics
Here you can track overall sleep time and see how baby slept overnight. With 18-hour sleep playback you can scroll through baby’s sleep timeline to see how often baby roused or needed settling. It’s great in those early days when you are getting to used to when your baby’s sleep and wake times are.
Safe-zones
This is a feature of the app that I am really looking forward to using once our baby is moving around a bit more. It allows you to set a “virtual fence” so we can be notified if she has moved out of her safe zone (such as getting limbs stuck between cot bars or trying to climb out of the cot). I know this will come in very handy in the not-too-distant future. With the camera tilt feature we can also easily expand this feature to monitor the whole room, setting danger zones or being able to see if she is trying to sneak out of bed when that time comes.
Two-way audio
This feature allows you to soothe baby with your voice from your phone. Just hearing your voice can be enough to settle your baby. Plus, when they get older you can talk to them through the monitor, for example, telling them it’s time to sleep!
The final verdict
Since becoming a mum five years ago, I quickly learned that having a well-rested baby is one of the vital keys to everyone’s happiness in our home. Equally, knowing that baby is sleeping safely and well gives me great peace of mind and that is where the Cubo Ai Plus Smart Baby Monitor has given back to me the most.
