Summer holidays are magical… but six weeks at home is a long stretch. If you’re looking for a school holiday outing that’s unforgettable, high-energy and guaranteed to spark big belly laughs, we’ve found it. What if your kids could step right inside Wonderland itself… and be part of the story? Welcome to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at the Grand Electric!

Tumble down the rabbit hole these summer holidays and join the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at The Grand Electric (Surry Hills) for a limited season from 3–25 January 2026, bringing an hour of circus, cabaret, comedy, and absolute mayhem — performed right up close. It’s wildly interactive, whimsical, delightfully topsy-turvy and perfect for all ages.

A Wonderland Adventure like no other

This cheeky and chaotic family spectacle promises an hour of immersive fun, high-flying acrobatics, quirky characters and infectious laughter for the young and the young-at-heart.

Originally inspired by the acclaimed 2017–2018 production Funatorium: The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, which charmed audiences at the Sydney Opera House, QPAC and Auckland Live, this brand-new 2026 incarnation arrives with fresh energy, new cast members and an even bigger appetite for absolute Wonderland mayhem.

Directed by Mike Finch, former Artistic Director of Circus Oz, the show blends world-class circus, playful storytelling and riotous audience interaction into one irresistibly mad tea party.

“This show is a full-tilt celebration of imagination and joyful disorder,” says Finch. “We take Lewis Carroll’s iconic characters and throw them into a circus blender — what comes out is hilarious, surprising and full of heart. Kids love the wildness of it, adults love the wit, and everyone leaves with their own favourite mad moment.”

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is the perfect school holiday outing!

This is a show where giggles, gasps and full-body laughter aren’t just welcome, they’re required. Here’s what families will love:

A magical, highly interactive show (the performers come right up to the audience!)

This is not a sit-and-watch kind of performance. Children are invited into the silliness, encouraged to respond, laugh, join the antics and interact with the cast. Expect tumbling teacups, a sugar cube fight and moments of delight that burst off stage and get everyone involved.

World-class circus meets comedy, colour and chaos.

Expect acrobatics, comedy, quirky characters and beautifully choreographed mayhem. It’s a circus with a Wonderland twist — surprising, energetic and full of “Did you see THAT?!” moments.

Join the high tea fun!

Enjoy a unique topsy-turvy high-tea service, complete with treats, mocktails, and cocktails for the grown-ups. Purchase as an add-on to your experience or as part of the Ringside VIP Table ticket.
