DESCRIPTION

The recognition of the uniqueness of each student as a learner underpins the Ravenswood Learning Framework from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students in the Class of 2021 came 20th in the state in the HSC and three attained the highest possible ATAR (or ATAR equivalent) of 99.95 – a remarkable result for a proudly non-selective school. Overall, 15% of the Class of 2021 achieved an ATAR above 99 and our median ATAR was 93.05.

As the first Positive Education and Visible Wellbeing School in NSW, Ravenswood understands that wellbeing and academic success are inextricably linked. Principal Mrs Anne Johnstone is internationally recognised for her pioneering work in the field of Positive Education and youth wellbeing. She is the Chair of the Australian Positive Education Schools Association (PESA), Vice-Chair of the International Positive Education Network (IPEN) and holds a master’s degree in Positive Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also the 2022 recipient of the Phyllis Evans Medal from the Teachers’ Guild of NSW, a prize that acknowledges a ‘distinguished educator of great standing’.

Ravenswood is the only school on Sydney’s Upper North Shore to offer students a choice between the HSC and the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP). From Kindergarten to Year 6, the IBPYP provides a rigorous framework that values and promotes inquiry, collaboration, and student agency. Our new pre-kindergarten, Ravenswood Prep, offers an innovative curriculum combining the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP), Reggio Emilia and Ravenswood’s Positive Education approach.

Ravenswood offers more than 100 co-curricular activities and was the first girls’ school on Sydney’s North Shore to offer Cadets (in partnership with the Knox Grammar School Army Cadet Unit). Our students enjoy many further co-educational opportunities with our brother school Knox Grammar School, including business skills programs, musical performances and service activities.
