DESCRIPTION
“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” – Dr Maria Montessori
Forestville Montessori School (FMS) is an Independent School for children aged 0-12 years. FMS students benefit from a progressive non-denominational education that combines Australian Government standards with holistic, child-centred learning.
From toddler through to preschool and primary school, FMS students are encouraged to learn creatively, think deeply and develop skills they can apply to further education, and to life beyond school.
We cultivate thinking outside the box, solutions-based problem solving, community connection and self-guided learning to build children’s confidence and expand their horizons.
At FMS, education is personal. We discover and teach to your child’s strengths, regardless of age or ability and without competitive pressure. Degree qualified, Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) trained teaching staff guide your child through every stage of learning on their Montessori journey. This interactive relationship between student and teacher is key to your child’s learning success, interest, and joy at school.
Purposefully prepared mixed-age classrooms offer children of all ages leadership opportunities as well as chances to be led. Your child will thrive in this environment, designed to cultivate social awareness and community while fostering individuality and growing personal interests.
Our extensive extra-curricular activities include swimming, surfing, gymnastics, cooking, music, horticulture and animal care to name but a few. All children at FMS engage in aspects of the Grow Your Mind mental health and wellbeing program.
In additional to in-school activities, we also offer an excellent range of before and after school programs on site. These currently include Mandarin lessons, private piano and violin lessons, soccer, chess club and more.
Vacation care and after school care are available for children across all age groups (toddler through to primary school). For pre-primary and kindergarten students, CCS and Start Strong Funding is available for eligible families.
Come visit our beautiful Forestville Campus and experience all that FMS has to offer.
Toddler Program (2-3 years): Develop early independence, fine tune motor movement, language and communication skills. Help your child to regulate emotions in preparation for preschool. Direct pathway into the FMS preschool program. Choose 3, 4 or 5 days.
Pre-school Program (3-6 years): Continue to develop independence, while building natural curiosity and hands-on learning. FMS preschoolers learn practical life skills alongside numeracy, literacy and social skills in preparation for kindergarten and school readiness.
Primary School: K-6 students grow these skills and are encouraged to explore personal strengths and interests. FMS primary students work closely with teachers and peers to excel in academics, incorporating social justice and environmental education into everyday learning. We foster creativity, community, masterful academics and future thinking.
