Family Chiropractic – Chatswood (Established 1996)
Family Chiropractic Chatswood was established in December of 1996 by the husband and wife team of Dr Brett & Ivanka Grant. Both Dr. Brett and Ivanka started their chiropractic journeys in their teens. Ivanka had been a migraine sufferer and was introduced to Chiropractic whilst attending a school Careers Night. A keen sportsperson, Brett competed at a national level in swimming, surf lifesaving and rugby union. As the rigors of sport started to catch up, Brett started to ‘slow down’. He was after help that that would not only help ‘fix’ the injury but would also prevent any injury from reoccurring, improve his performance and not lose any competitive edge. It was Ivanka who suggested Chiropractic to him!
They opened Victoria Avenue Family Chiropractic in 1996. After outgrowing the premises, they changed the practice name and moved to their current location. The first year of private practice was spent specializing in the care of children with learning and developmental disorders. The results and changes seen in these children as they progressed through care totally changed his concept as to the role that Chiropractic care plays in enhancing the health and well-being of people. The lifelong changes seen in these kids, due to Chiropractic care and working closely with their family played an integral part in their development and their life.
Dr. Brett loves to and continually gives back to the profession and to the local community. He has mentored new graduates and chiropractors; has served as a Director on the Board of the Australian Spinal Research Foundation between 2009 and 2011; and is currently serving on the board of the NSW Chiropractic Student’s Trust Fund.
Since Dr. Brett finished his University degree he has also gone through extra study in various Chiropractic techniques. He has passed extra examinations in Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique, having Advanced Proficiency qualifications. From 2003 Dr. Brett has been an instructor for Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique. This has enabled him to teach to both Chiropractors at Chiropractic seminars and to the Chiropractic students at Macquarie University.
On top of the extra study that he has undertaken in various chiropractic techniques, he is continually learning and building his knowledge base in areas such as paediatrics; geriatrics; family health care; stress management; and enhancing lifestyle via eating, moving and thinking congruently with your genetic blueprint.
Dr. Brett’s greatest love is his family, who have all become an integral part in his family centred practice. In his down time, you will often catch Dr. Brett & Ivanka down at the beach relaxing with his family, or ‘out the back’ catching a few waves with his kids or friends.
