DESCRIPTION
Umbrella School of Music is a new inclusive school offering opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and disabilities to express themselves through music, singing and movement. The school’s vision is to improve people’s lives by developing not just music but life skills, confidence and creativity all whilst having fun and feeling joy!
Additionally, the school fosters meaningful connections and relationships between people of all ages and walks of life thereby contributing to a more caring, compassionate, inclusive society where all are accepted for their differences, abilities and uniqueness! Ingrid Bass, Principal Facilitator, offers one on one music, singing and movement sessions, as well as small group activities, workshops and events for people of all ages, abilities and breaking down barriers and stigmas through the universal language of music!
Her monthly Krazy Karaoke Blasts have been one way in which she has achieved these aims but now the school is planning to put on an inclusive musical production, the one-act edition of Disney’s CAMP ROCK, buddying up a person with and without disability as each character in the show! With 3 performances to hit the stage at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood from March 23 to 29, 2025 this inclusive production will make theatre history being the first of it’s type in Sydney! The project launches with a workshop on June 23 – for more information and to book in for the workshop, please go here: https://umbrellasom.com.au/inclusive-musical/
