Beloved Wannabees Family Play Town have announced the closure of both their Hornsby and Frenchs Forest venues, bringing an end to nine years of fun and fantasy play at the custom-built kids world.
Wannabees Family Play Town will close its doors forever, after announcing its closure on the playcentre website.
The incredible play centre at Hornsby and Frenchs Forest has been a place of fun, laughter and imaginative role play for families on the North Shore and beyond for almost a decade.

Wannabees offered an amazing array of realistic setups, from doctor’s rooms to police station

Wannabees supermarket was a great place for kids to role-play supermarket shopping for food
The closure of the centre follows NUBO closing its doors at Chatswood earlier in the year.
Wannabees Family Play Town closing, but the memories live on
Wannabees was unlike any other playcentre. You weren’t going to find large play structures, slides or inflatable rides. Instead, Wannabees was based on the concept of what you ‘wannabee’ when you grow up and focused on imaginary play. The layout included different themed rooms, filled with costumes and props for the kids to play with. These themed rooms included:
- Police Department
- Hospital
- Post Office
- Supermarket
- Hair & Beauty Salon
- Fashion Shop
- TV Studio
- Radio Station
- Fire Station
- Gym
- Pizzeria & Cafe
There was a brightly coloured stage they used for organised games and fashion shows (the kids would dress up in the Fashion Shop before doing a little parade on the stage).
It was a place of imagination and fun, where we could relax knowing the kids were having a blast.
Wannabees, we’ll miss you.
