Skin care solutions approved by mums

As we soar past our mid-20s, we start thinking more about our skin and how we should be looking after it so that we stay looking as young as we can for as long as we can. And, let’s face it, we all want to feel good about ourselves, especially after having children. This was evident when North Shore mum Rachael recently wrote on the Facebook Group page:

Mums, I need your advice! I’m 31 and I’m still looking pretty good in the skin department. However, I need a better skin regimen and have no idea what to buy. Should I buy anti-ageing? What rocks your world?

Here are the products our mums suggested…

Christine: Luxe – La Prairie; Mid-range – PAYOT; Budget – Sukin Australian Natural Skincare. I also gave up on an expensive moisturiser and alternate between Sukin and OLAY. Since I have, people have been complimenting my skin.

Amber: Ultraceuticals is pretty amazing, and La Roche-posay (French, but at Priceline), which my dermatologist swears by! Great BB cream.

Allie: Try Go-To Face Hero – a powerful protective face oil.

Tara: I love Go-To Face Hero, too! And the Go-To Exfoliating Swipeys are wonderful to keep glowing skin without being too harsh. I’m also using lovely vitamin B and C serums from asap, which are great as well – vitamin C for an antioxidant boost in the morning and vitamin B for radiance and to tackle pigmentation (post pregnancy) in the evening. Oh, and Invisible Zinc Face + Body Sunscreen, every day!

Elise: Perricone MD and Eve Lom. MECCA is the place I go for my beauty products and to pick up the latest make up trends.

Lisa: LUMINESCE by Jeunesse is my fave. Loved OLAY, but am finding the results are better with LUMINESCE and I’m 31, too.

Kerry: I use pure rosehip oil. That’s my whole routine! lol

CJ: I’ve been using Uplift Eye Serum by Younique and it’s amazing. So much so my husband started using it, too!

Gemma: Look at Paula’s Choice Skincare – the most awesome products (from someone who had terrible skin! It’s made such a difference). Also, great research on all skin care and cosmetics (there are ratings of most big names) and general skincare info.

Bree: Visit Beauty Boutique Manly and see Britt. She is a God-sent beautician and will advise you on your best options … and she doesn’t charge a ridiculous small fortune.

Lisa: Nu Skin rocks and you can get it online.

Laura: Younique! All mineral skin care and make-up. Im 31 and have various skin changes throughout the month, but I really love these products.

Bronnie: A good daily sunscreen.

Michelle: I use CLINIQUE. Consultants did an assessment on my skin and recommended I start using anti-ageing products when I was about 32 years.

Angela: Loads of water and eating no sugar works! I’ve tried so many things; this is what helps the most.

Tania: Botox

Alison: As Bronnie said above, daily sunscreen is the most effective anti-ageing cream you can use, especially in Australia. This ABC article ‘Can face creams keep your skin looking younger?’ explains why.

Susan: I’ve used them all: La Mer, Dermalogica, Clarins, Ella Baché, the list goes on, but none of them have been as good as what I am using now … Veráge. And not only does it work a treat, you get four products for the price of about one of the others listed above. Win win!

Priscilla: I love Paula’s Choice Skincare.

Tammy: I love Rationale Skin Care. You can buy it from cosmetic surgeons or online. Very effective, but also a little expensive. I get so many comments about my skin. Also recommend regular treatments such as Meso needling and laser to keep your skin looking young.

Dominique: I have been using Arbonne for about a year and love it – it feels very different and my skin seems to love it, too. I am a bit older than you, though, but you also need to remember that good sun protection, lots of water and fresh foods are essential.

Kellie: I’ve been using NuCerity for the last six months and never has my skin looked and felt so good.

Jennifer: Dr. Hauschka rocks my world!
