Okay… it’s time for me! Time to put myself first and try to shift the last bit of extra baby weight that I still have after two years.

With a hectic work schedule of two 10-hour working days in my part-time television job, coupled with running my own photography business, running a household, and looking after a 2-year-old, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for me to find time to exercise!

I needed something for the time poor. Were there any options out there? YES! Hypoxi!

What is Hypoxi?

Hypoxi is the first training concept to combine alternating high and low pressure with exercise, to help target fat in those areas which just won’t budge. The simple 30-minute workout is safe, pain-free and completely natural – helping your body to tap into stubborn fat stores while you work out. In just 12 sessions, people can lose up to 30 centimetres from their problem areas – much more than what you would generally see from conventional training alone.

My motivations were the same as any other Mum – I was struggling to lose those last few kilos and tone back up. I wanted to feel good about myself and wanted to feel comfortable in my clothes again.

After speaking with the lovely Cassie Lawrence from the St Ives studio, I arranged a time to go in to meet her and to learn more about Hypoxi and how it could help me.

When I arrived I completed a registration form and explained any health issues I had. I had a short discussion with Cassie about what I wanted to achieve by doing Hypoxi and then she then measured me up.

From our consultation, Cassie recommended I would be undertaking the L250 trainer which was going to target the waist, stomach, hips, bum and thighs – it also targeted cellulite reduction to firm and tone uneven/puffy skin.

I felt confident the L250 was the right machine for me, with previous injuries to my back and some recent nerve damage to my arm I needed something low weight-bearing and effective in targeting stubborn areas. Pounding the pavement just isn’t an option for me anymore. The Hypoxi L250 trainer takes all pressure of the joints so is great for anyone with injuries or struggling to complete normal exercise routines.

The L250 machine looks like a giant egg!  It is fitted with a special ‘wet suit skirt’. Cassie attached a heart rate monitor on my chest and a temperature monitor on my leg, to monitor my skin temperature throughout the treatment. I was then instructed to lie down in the machine whilst Cassie strapped my feet into pedals and helped me set up.

Each session consists of 30 minutes of cycling – cycling lying down sounded easy enough.  Cassie instructed me that I needed to stay under a specified heart rate and between a certain speed. While you are cycling  you are able to read gossip magazines, catch up on emailing, watch a TV series or just simple relax and take your mind of everything.

Having not done regular exercise for a while, I wondered how I would go, but I had no problem keeping under the specified heart rate and could keep up with the gentle speed while the machine went through its process of vacuum therapy. Hypoxi training is designed for both men and woman of all different fitness levels and ages.

The 30 minutes flew by and after the first session I felt great.  I was given some paperwork on which foods to avoid on training days, and tips on healthy snacks to have throughout the day.

I’m delighted to say, that after 12 Hypoxi sessions, I lost 28cms from my stubborn areas! I would highly recommend Hypoxi to those who are time poor and wanting to lose that extra baby weight and tone up.
