Following is runner-up entry in the NSM ‘You Deserve to Indulge’ Mother’s Day Competition 2015. Here, Denise Hertroijs from Mount Ku-ring-gai tells us all about her fabulous friend Koran Gers from Hornsby Heights.
Koran is a BRILLIANT mum, a devoted wife, a caring nurse and a doer of all things fabulous, a helper, a healer, a fighter and a lover of life. She is always finding ways to help others and I thank the Universe for the day I met her.
I had been struggling having not met anyone from Ireland up in these parts, until I bought something off the Hornsby buy swap and sell website, and Koran was the seller. There and then a beautiful friendship began, and Koran soon welcomed me to the Irish girls’ catch-ups, where another two fabulous Irish mums, Debbie and Emma, would get together every week. My sanity was restored and I had fabulous mum friends who understood exactly what I was going through.
Koran is famous in the Hornsby Heights circles – she puts her hand up for everything! Recently, during the storms, she welcomed her house to those without electricity; she has collected supplies for Nepal in the last week; and she rallies around anyone that needs rallying around without them ever having to ask. She is always running from A to Z with a car full of children, always a few extra on top of her own four (Poppy aged 14 months, Brody 4, Zara 5, and Noah 6). She is a dream – I would entrust my children’s lives in her hands any day.
Koran has had her fair share of ups and downs but always always gets on with life with a smile on her face and a glint in her eye. She brings warmth and love wherever she goes.
She is selfless.
She would die if she knew I was submitting this!
She would enjoy a pamper, although she would never do it for herself.
And she loves a cheeky glass of wine, dressing up and letting her fabulous hair down – this happens about twice a year!
She is a worthy winner.
