My friend, Trish has been a wonderful friend and a constant source of inspiration to me and I would like to nominate her as North Shore most inspiring mum of the year.

Trish and I met about 15 years ago during our student days while we were both working in retail. We became fast friends and I’ve always admired her tenacity and drive as well as her bubbly and ever-so- positive outlook even in the bleakest of days. She is a fiercely loyal friend and has always been there for me throughout the years. When I got married and had two little boys, Trish was still single but she was a loving “Aunty” figure to them, and showed a very tender and nurturing side of her I hadn’t seen before.

Trish is now happily married to a loving man and has an adorable little 2.5 year old son. Though she is a naturally ambitious and career-driven person, Trish gave up her full time administrator role (which she loved) soon after his birth so she could be a fulltime stay-at-home mum. I was very surprised and moved when I found out, as it demonstrated to me just how strong her love for him was. I also watched Trish transform from a professional executive into a hands-on mum who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty with her boy, playing in the mud and sand!

Even as a stay at home mum, Trish continues to work casually, teaching at the University and freelances as a translator and writes a popular personal lifestyle blog. She also facilitates a local playgroup and runs charity drives to raise funds for the group. Late last year, Trish, together with the play group Coordinator, were successful in gaining funds through a local Council community grant application and has implemented at playgroup, a new arts, sports and music program to further enrich the participating children’s play time.

More recently, Trish set up her very own nanny referral agency, Sydney North Shore Nannies, to help fellow mums and dads with their childcare needs. I remember it was only 6 months ago when she was talking to me about how hard it is to find a professional and experienced nanny she could trust, and how there was definitely a need in the area to provide such a service. Fast forward to now, she has made it a reality and she is running her own business in addition to all her other roles and responsibilities!

I admire Trish for her drive, her passion for life and her tenacity. Life isn’t always smooth sailing, even for her, but she sure makes it look easy to reach her goals with her go-getter attitude. She is an incredible woman, friend and mum and always an inspiration to strive for more and reach for the stars. Her love for her son and other children is apparent and comes naturally. She is definitely deserving of “North Shore’s most inspiring mum” title!
