In 2021 The Mercy Catholic College community welcomes Mrs Brenda Timp.

Brenda is passionate about ensuring children are ready for the challenges of the adult world, because she has “a real understanding” of what that means.

Mrs. Timp, who worked in the mining sector for twelve years before becoming a teacher, also brings twenty years’ experience as an educator to her new role at Mercy.

Principal Ms. Timp says a school environment can develop girls’ confidence and critical thinking

“Young women face significant challenges,” she says.

“We are living in a world of changing values, where popular culture can inform how women should think about themselves and their place in the world.

There’s a unique opportunity in a girls’ school environment to develop girls’ confidence and critical thinking so that they can interrogate and contribute to shaping society and culture.”
