A North Shore Mum, who would prefer to remain anonymous, shares her experiences after visiting a local naturopath, herbalist and massage therapist, Bianca Hussey, from Health Space Clinics in Hornsby.

Heavy periods. Headaches. Weight gain. Fatigue.

These were the main reasons I went to see Bianca Hussey, a Naturopath, Herbalist and Massage Therapist.

With a history of endometriosis and polycystic ovaries, my periods have never been pleasant, but since baby #2, they had become unbearable. I was fed up with all the painkillers, the cancelling of social engagements due to the pain, the horrendous PMT, the person I was the week before, the week during and the week after. I felt that one week a month I felt good, no PreMT, no period, and no PostMT. Unfortunately that wasn’t really much of a life.

When I first visited Bianca, I felt like I was talking to an old friend. Her passion for what she does is inspiring. Bianca looked at each individual complaint but with a wholistic approach. She explained things well and discussed how I could put strategies in place that would help without the process seeming too overwhelming. Small steps to my lifestyle were discussed, goals set and I went away with ‘homework’ which gave me a focus for the week. I found these homework tasks really kept me on track. With complaints like mine, herbal medicine can be helpful and Bianca provided me with a treatment plan to move forward.

It has been a month since my first consultation, and whilst the herbs can take up to three months to really kick in, I have already noticed some positive differences. My head feels clearer, I feel more positive, my last period wasn’t as excruciating…

Small changes have become a way of life: eating dinner on a smaller plate, tracking movement, taking herbs, drinking more water, drinking less caffeine and alcohol.

Physically, I have lost over 3kgs, the dark circles under my eyes are lighter, my skin is clearer, brighter…

Mentally, I am enjoying my little projects and homework tasks, as a stay at home mum it has given me those times throughout the day, albeit short bursts of time, to focus on myself.

I would recommend Bianca to anyone who feels a bit out of sorts, who has menstrual problems, who needs a diet overhaul or to those who wish to reassess their health goals or feel conventional therapy is not helping.

Bianca gained her qualifications from Nature Care College and is particularly interested in digestive conditions (such as IBS and Leaky Gut), children’s health, supporting mental health (especially anxiety and depression), stress related disorders, weight loss, detoxification and fatigue. Bianca consults from Healthspace Clinic in Hornsby which offers patients an integrated approach to their health. The clinic is very child friendly with colouring in for kids, books, and a kids care program.
