Free Australia Day Events: COVID-safe drive in movie, St Ives


Free Australia Day events in 2021 include an invitation from Ku-ring-gai Council for residents to Reflect, Respect and Celebrate our unique Australian stories at a COVID-Safe community Drive-In event. It’s being held at St Ives Showground on the evening of Australia Day. Tickets are free, but get in quick!

Live in the Ku-ring-gai Council area? This Australia Day, you’re being treated to a FREE Drive-In movie at St. Ives to Showground on Tuesday 26 January!

Head to the showground for a very special Australia Day event, the screening of the recently released Aussie movie GO!

Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy time with your family and friends from the safety of your own car. Pack a picnic or choose some delicious street food from one of the amazing food trucks.

Ku-ring-gai’s Australia Day Drive-in will feature an amazing double-sided screen Airscreen, allowing more people to enjoy the movie. You can choose the Northern side of the field or the Southern-side of the field, both areas offering the same incredible viewing experience!

This unique outdoor cinematic experience will entertain up to 300 cars. You’re encouraged to dress up and deck out your cars to showcase the Australian Spirit.

About the movie: GO!

GO! is a thrilling family film about a boy who overcomes tremendous odds (and his own recklessness) to achieve his dream of in the National Go Kart Championship. The high-octane Australian family film with heart was produced in Western Australia and champions our dusty landscapes, occa tones and overall tenacity!

This home grown hit starring Richard Roxburgh, Dan Wyllie, Frances O’Connor and William Lodder, is a real must-see and can now be enjoyed as great night out for the whole family.

Bookings are essential for this FREE Ku-ring-gai community event.

At least one person in each vehicle will need to provide valid proof of residency (ie Drivers Licence) in one of the following postcodes for entry into the site. Ku-ring-gai Postcodes:

  • 2076

Residents with a ticket can roll up in their rides and show their licence with Ku-ring-gai address to gain entry.

They are then invited to park up and pull out the picnic, in the car, on camp chair or in the trailer tray! And good news for our four-legged friends; dogs are permitted, as long as they remain on a leash at all times.

Because no trip to the cinema is complete without comfort, visit the suite of food trucks for:

  • Popcorn
  • Snacks
  • Substantial eats
  • Non-alcoholic beverages

This is an all-inclusive family-focused, alcohol-free event provided to the Ku-ring-gai Community.
