Normanhurst Uniting Church Musical Society is heading off to River City, Iowa, in Meredith Willson’s brilliant production of THE MUSIC MAN.
Funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is family entertainment at its best. Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. Seventy-Six Trombones and Till There Was You are just two out of the long list of wonderful songs you will love.
The Music Man follows smooth-talking travelling salesman, Harold Hill, who, despite complete lack of musical literacy, attempts to convince the folk of River City, Iowa that he is a brilliant bandleader and recruit all the children into a band, pocketing the cash, for instruments and uniforms. The problem? The frosty librarian, Marian Paroo, isn’t as easily hoodwinked! As Harold struggles to keep his scheme afloat, he also finds himself increasingly attached to the community, who have experienced a positive change since the Music Man came to town. Complicating matters even more, Harold and Marian find themselves falling head-over-heels for each other.
