ELEVATE Sydney taking over The Rocks this New Years

Elevate Sydney

Six days of live entertainment has been planned to take over the stage as the Cahill Expressway in Sydney is transformed for the ELEVATE Sydney Festival from Saturday 1 to Thursday 6 January 2022. There’s something for everyone, including kids’ entertainment, sport-themed variety shows, disco, musical theatre, pop and much, much more. Mark the dates for some Summer fun!

For the first time ever, Sydney’s Cahill Expressway overlooking Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, will be closed and transformed into a spectacular stage. ELEVATE Sydney is a free, six-day entertainment and cultural celebration featuring more than 20 acclaimed Australian artists performing from morning to night on the Expressway.

On Friday 26 November, the NSW Government announced an incredible line up of more than 180 artists, including Dance Monkey star Tones And I, Tim Minchin, Baker Boy, Electric Fields, Marcia Hines and The Wiggles. ELEVATE Sydney is part of the government’s efforts to turbocharge the CBD’s recovery.

According to Premier Dominic Perrottet, ELEVATE Sydney will help revive the spirit of the city, reminding the world why tourists travel from across the world to experience our lifestyle.

“The day after the fireworks, this event will begin the new year with a celebration of what makes our city great.

Nowhere else could you hold this kind of event, nowhere has our harbour, our setting or our weather – this is part of our ongoing vision for taking our city from good to great.

This has been a tough time for hospitality and tourism, we’re committed to doing everything we can to get these industries back on their feet and ensuring that our people have the chance to enjoy the city again.”

In an Australian first, the Skyshow will feature 500 choreographed drones over Sydney Cove as a natural amphitheater, creating a dazzling light display.  A boomerang, a waratah and a series of animations will tell a powerful story of Sydney’s past, present and hopes for 2022.

ELEVATE Kids will be taking place across four MEGA mornings. All events are aimed at children under the age of 12, designed to offer them a day they’ll never forget. Each day features a different mix of popular performers guaranteed to get children singing, dancing and smiling from ear to ear.

  • Sunday 2 January from 8am-12pm
  • Monday 3 January from 8am-12pm
  • Tuesday 4 January from 8am-12pm
  • Wednesday 5 January from 8am-12pm

The host is the sensational Justine Clarke, Australia’s much loved and bestselling children’s music entertainer and author! Every event starts with a morning wellness session. It will be a movement activity like no other led by Lauren Hannaford, former elite gymnast, fitness coach and (this will impress the kids) former Wiggly dancer with The Wiggles!

Ready Set Dance and the freshest DJ and dancer in town, Romeboy will help get the party started.

Each day features a different mix of popular performers guaranteed to get children singing, dancing and smiling from ear to ear including The Wiggles, Junkyard Beats, Erth, Kangaroo Beach and more!
