What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional whose role is to support pregnant women and their partners through late pregnancy, bith and beyond. A doula will provide you with emotional, physical and educational support, comfort and encouragement throughout the whole experience.

A doula will help you develop a birth plan that suits your needs, and can help you with any aspect of birth, from what techniques might help during birth, to what equipment you might need in the nursery.

After birth your doula can give you help and advice on a wide range of issues, from managing older children and extended family, to practical things like cooking you a nutritious meal, assisting with breastfeeding advice and helping settle baby while you shower or get a nap.
