  • Think Gray Psychotherapy is an established private practice run by a North Shore Mum of two (Sophie Gray; B.Psych(Hons); M.Couns&Psychotherapy) that focuses on helping people of all ages overcome mental health difficulties and flourish.

I seek to cultivate trusting and empathetic relationships with my clients, so that my practice is a safe space to explore emotional challenges. I specialise in helping clients manage mood disorders (anxiety and depression), overcoming relational or emotional trauma, and working through relationship issues. I also offer pre- and post-natal counselling for mums who need support. Along with individual therapy, I run one-day workshops about understanding and managing emotions, and have authored “Dealing with your S**t: The Art of Thinking Gray”  which is available on iBooks.

I am happy to speak on the phone before booking in, so you can decide if I’m the right therapist for you. If you’d like to ‘get to know me’ more, follow my mental health blo

I did the workshop recently. Now every time I feel anxious, stressed, angry, sad (all the less enjoyable but equally important emotions) I feel able to make sense of them. They’ve stopped being these big scary things I need to avoid. Instead they’re like signposts, telling me there’s something I need to address… it’s given me some control and helped me make some sense of it all. That’s pretty bloody valuable. 10/10 recommend.

Sophie creates a safe and honest space at Think Gray Psychotherapy which encourages participants to engage with a realistic reflection upon one’s self.
I participated in her full day session, Understanding and dealing with your sh*t and noticed that as a therapist Sophie is incredibly approachable and understanding. She stands apart from the crowd in the way that she is happy to share parts of herself with the group to accentuate that she isn’t under the illusion that anyone is perfect. In fact, I have never felt more instantly comfortable with a therapist because of the way that she accentuates that perfection isn’t a realistic goal. Her focus is instead upon understanding of one’s emotions, reactions and self as well as the ways that we, as individuals, can improve.
If you want a place that you can walk into, chuck down your bag, vent out your issues and then walk out filled with the endorphins that you can only achieve through the empowerment of understanding, Sophie is a great option for you.
For me she took the time to make me understand that despite my inconvenient emotions and tendency to be anxious, I’m not in any way defective. Instead, my body’s habits are there to protect me and if I am mindful of them, I can continue to work to use them to my advantage. I’m so grateful for this powerful insight.

I met Sophie 12 months ago for the first time when I was looking for someone to help me with stress management both at work and at home specially with young children. I spoke to a few therapists over the phone initially to set a dialogue and go from there. When I spoke with Sophie – just two minutes into the conversation, I felt like I had an instant connect with her. I’ve been seeing her regularly for 12 months now and her guidance has made a significant improvement in my life both at work and at home. Sophie is very warm, super easy going but yet very professional. Her ability as a listener (which I think every therapist should be good at) blows my mind as she retains everything that I’ve said in our sessions and reiterates the points with applicable strategies via follow up emails. I would recommend her to anyone who needs any kind of advise and therapy. Thank you Sophie for making a difference in my life – you truly do.

I have been attending sessions at Think Gray Psychotherapy for more than a year now and it has made such a positive change to my life. Soph’s approach is honest, compassionate, and I feel like she always has my back. As someone who has struggled with isolation and abandonment issues, knowing that I have a safe space to turn to makes all the difference. I would thoroughly recommend Think Gray Psychotherapy.
