Dr. Abi Thevakumar is one of the few female Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the Frenchs Forest area and practices at the Northern Beaches Hospital.

She believes that its a privilege to be involved in the health and well being of a woman, from her birth experience and well into her wonder years. She endeavours to empower women to make the right choices about their healthcare and is respectful of her patients’ autonomy.

Dr. Abi has been the Staff Specialist at Manly and Mona Vale and is continuing her role in the new Northern Beaches Hospital. She runs the Gestational Diabetic Clinic and is supportive of VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean). She also offers Maternal Assisted Caesareans as an alternative to women who need Caesareans to birth their baby.

It’s paramount to Dr. Abi that women experience the birth that’s right for them. Gynaecology services are also offered for women with a variety of period problems, pelvic pain, abnormal pap smears and vulval disorders.

Thanks to Dr Abi, not only do I have a healthy little girl….my birth experience was the furthest thing from traumatic. She makes you feel like family. I have moved to aus from Canada with my husband who’s from England. We have no family here. With Dr Abi and her team, we went into labour feeling confident and empowered. We felt we could trust her to take care of us and truly advocate what we wanted while keeping our babies health and safety at the forefront. We highly recommend her. We are beyond grateful we found her. She’s an amazing, caring, patient and truly kind person. We felt she cared about us as people. We were not a number or a $$ sign to her.
