Sound Expression is a dedicated music therapy clinic in North Ryde providing Individual and Group Music Therapy for children and adults. We are an NDIS registered service provider, with 5 fully equipped music therapy rooms providing service to over 250 clients per week. We have a very strong sense of purpose in providing outstanding professional and friendly service to our clients and community.
How does it work?
Using a ‘strengths-based, person-centred’ approach, we initially focus on what a person can do, rather than what they cannot do. From there we build capacity in clients and assist them to achieve their goals and develop their skills, to transfer them into their daily life in a practical and lasting way.

Music therapy is different from music education and entertainment as it focuses on health, functioning and well-being. Music therapy is the intentional use of music by a university-trained registered music therapist, who, drawing on an extensive body of research, will incorporate a range of music-making methods within and through a therapeutic relationship.

There is a large body of research that describes how music affects the brain and how music can assist children. Music activates many areas of the brain and has been found to positively affect early childhood development, learning and daily functioning including attention, listening, speech production, emotions, motor skills, memory, coordination and decision-making.
