BuildBox provides building and renovation costing services to homeowners and builders. Using the latest in 3D estimating software and our vast residential building experience, BuildBox provides detailed building and renovation costings against approved or concept plans so you can make better choices and more informed decisions. With BuildBox, you’re in control of your building and renovation costings.

    If you’re thinking about a renovation…

A service unique to BuildBox is the “Just wondering if…” conversation. We’ll give you a realistic idea of what that second storey, new pool or man cave is likely to cost along with design and planning costs, site costs and external works (landscaping and driveways). Our customers have found it’s far better to have that information at the start of the project, rather than when they’ve already fallen in love with a design.

    If you’ve got concept plans…

Once you have a rough concept plan it’s a great idea to have it costed out before going any further. With our construction experience, we are able to work with all types of concept plans from first draft, pre-DA and even hand-drawn concepts. Getting a costing at the concept stage can potentially save you a lot of time, money and angst.

Plans approved and ready to go?

A detailed costing can provide customers with everything from a trade breakdown with provision for construction allowances to excluded items and non-construction items (fixtures and finishes) to enable you to understand your Total Project Cost. Armed with a detailed estimate, customers will be in the best position to ask the right questions, compare tender responses and ultimately choose the right builder for the job.

    Thinking about buying and renovating?

Purchasing a new property may raise the question of can you afford to do the transformation that you would like to. BuildBox has lots of experience at providing realistic estimates around both big-picture ideas and home repair costs.

When we had close-to-final plans for our large renovation, we spoke to John about the cost of the project. He gave us detailed costings and made it really clear what was included and what wasn’t. Because he wasn’t doing the building, we felt we were getting unbiased advice. This meant that when we put the project out to tender, we had a good idea of what it should cost and which builders were on the money. The final price came in very close to what John had advised – which was a great result for us.

We recently bought our forever home but knew it needed extensive renovations. We had what we thought was a realistic budget and had initial concept plans done by an architect. We took the concepts to John, who pulled in structural engineers and other trades to get an accurate estimate. The indicated cost came in at about 70 percent higher than what we had budgeted for. That was a bit of a shock. We made a few changes and are going ahead with the renovation comfortable in the knowledge that we are now working to a realistic budget

After splitting from my husband and buying the family home from him I needed to decide whether to move or renovate to make it suitable for my two rapidly growing sons. I met with John before seeing an architect, to discuss how much it would cost to add another bedroom and bathroom. It was really great to have that information so I could make I could make the right decision for us – I ended up selling the house rather than going through a disruptive reno. It was definitely the right decision for me and having John’s advice saved me time, money and angst.
