Community callout: Make the Lindfield Village Hub happen

‘Support Lindfield’ is a community group set up in 2012 to lobby the council for a community hub on the current Woodford Lane parking lot site behind the shops on the west side of Pacific Highway. This was in place of a 3-storey commuter parking station. Fast forward to June 2018 and a group of residents are still working on it. Here’s the latest.

Who are we?

Support Lindfield is made up of a group of ordinary, but passionate, people living and working in Lindfield, Roseville and Killara and we want a new heart for our village.

We want Lindfield to be a destination, not just a place to live or work.

What is happening?

Support Lindfield have been working very hard on plans to see a community hub built in the area, with all the amenities families with young and older children would want! The community hub would offer:

  • A new library of the future
  • Community facilities
  • Child care centre
  • Parkland
  • Cafe and restaurant precinct
  • Specialty retail
  • Gym
  • Medical centre
  • 750 parking spaces,
  • Supermarkets, (Woolworths, Aldi and Dan Murphy)

Why are locals concerned?

A month ago, Woolworths submitted an unsolicited proposal to develop the site, which included a commitment to pay for the development plus some infrastructure (such as a pedestrian bridge over the highway from the station to the west side and into the Hub of course). They are joining with Aldi who will also be in the complex.

Support Lindfield, as a group representing the community, have thrown our support behind the proposal.
