North Shore Mums loves to support local businesses, and women in business. Our regular Business Spotlight brings you the story behind a local business success, from how it began to how modern mums are handling family and a career. Today, we’re introducing you to Chantal Donohoe from Explore & Develop Roseville.
Chantal, tell us a little bit about yourself: I grew up on the North Shore, and I love that my children are growing up here too. My husband Andy and I have two children 4 year-old old Ralph and Audrey, 7. We live on the Upper North Shore, have made wonderful friendships through mothers group and primary school.
Explore & Develop Roseville has been a 10 year dream come to life! It is an Early Childhood Education and Care service service caring for 6 weeks – 6 year old children. I will be in the service 5 days a week, supporting families and educators. The service will aim for excellence, to achieve the best outcomes for children. Being involved in our community is very important to us, we have started building connections with our local swim school and martial arts to create an excursion program. We are offering weekly Play Sessions at Explore & Develop Roseville in our playroom to support families engage with an early education and care setting before they return to work. Our play and education will have a strong connection to nature and country as well as incorporating our children’s interests in planning.
What did you do before you launched your business? I have been working in the Early Childhood industry for 10 years. During the last 5 years, working in our small business of Family Day Care – Tilly’s House. We made lifelong friendships with our families during this time. Last year while Explore & Develop Roseville was being built, I worked at Exceeding services Explore & Develop Macquarie Park, Epping Road and North Ryde.
What makes your business different? The families and educators will be able to talk to me daily. I have a Diploma of Children’s Services with 10 years experience and a mum of two young children, I am invested in the business.
What inspired you to start your business? I wanted to create a place for the educators to feel valued and supported so they enjoy work every day. A place for families to feel their children are loved and learning while having fun. My dream is for us to create amazing childhood memories for our children.
