Ku-ring-gai Council is busy building new inclusive playgrounds, and Abingdon Road Reserve in Roseville is the latest playground to be upgraded and made inclusive for all children.

The new playground will open to the public on Monday 21 December, just in time for the summer holidays.

This small neighbourhood playground is fully fenced, and ideal for toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Playground Features:

  • Play equipment for a range of ages and abilities – swings. cubby house, slide, merry-go-round
  • Accessible pathways
  • New fence and landscaping
  • Drinking fountain
  • Seating areas where children can enjoy nature play

Community consultation on the playground design was completed last year, with a concept developed from the feedback received.

Work on the new playground was partially funded by a grant of $50,000 from the Everyone Can Play program, a state government initiative aimed at creating accessible and inclusive play spaces.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the Abingdon Road Reserve was a popular park due to the high proportion of young families living in the area, saying:

“The Council is progressively updating and improving numerous playgrounds in Ku-ring-gai, with features that will appeal to a wide range of abilities. This is in line with Ku-ring-gai’s Disability Action Plan first adopted by Council in 2014 and updated earlier this year.”
