Every day throughout the September holidays, let the Holiday Heroes knock out boredom with a range of activities to keep the kids entertained, and out of your hair!
The kids will be entertained with:

Taronga is bringing its two beautiful Zoos directly into your living room! Tune in daily to see your favourite animals, meet their friendly keepers and learn what goes on behind the scenes at Taronga.
Exciting news! Taronga Zoo Sydney has welcomed a litter of five African Lion Cubs for the first time in 18 years! The cubs who arrived mid-August are healthy, inquisitive and growing every day. For a limited time, a tax-deductible donation from just $7 will unlock access to watch the youngsters grow on the Taronga TV Cub Cam – all while supporting their cousins in the wild!
Storytime from The Opera House
Choose from a selection of kids and families programs from Sydney Opera House. Join them for story time, as artists from their stages read aloud your favourite Australian storybooks in ‘Footlights & Booklights’. Follow Ivy and Anthony as they meet experts who bring stories to life on their stages in ‘House Play’. Curious kids step through the giant doors of the scenery lift at the Sydney Opera House to meet some amazing people from the stage and behind the scenes.
You can also join their Indigenous narrators on a journey into the history and culture of Bennelong Point in a digital tour created especially for kids; and follow George as he chats with players of the Sydney Youth Orchestra and learns all about the four families of the orchestra.
They’ve even compiled some of their favourite free kid’s activity videos on Stream. Discover how to bring plays to life, build robots, make puppets, dance like a ballet dancer and a whole lot more – all from the comfort of home!
Drama Sessions from Monkey Baa Theatre
Monkey Play by @monkeybaatheatreco is back and online! Be guided by Monkey Baa Theatre‘s professional teaching artists in a fun and funny movement and voice workshop based on the themes and characters of Jackie French and Bruce Whatley’s book.
Through games and exercises, the free session explores the challenges and rewards of being different whilst still working with the flock and children will build confidence and drama skills.

Playfully explore the fundamentals of science with fun activities and experiments across the school holidays! Join in for four videos using items you can find at home and follow along for some educational fun for preschool and primary school ages.
The four virtual school holiday sessions, including Collecting and Classifying, Measuring and Recording, Experimenting with science, and an at-home Science Fair. A list of materials to collect can be downloaded here.
Online Arts & Crafts Program from The Harbour Trust
The Harbour Trust is celebrating the spring school holidays with an online arts and craft program for kids of all ages! To coincide with Biodiversity Month, they’ve curated a selection of fun activities and puzzles that celebrate Australian wildlife, including the diverse flora and fauna found at North Head Sanctuary and other extraordinary places in Sydney.
PLUS, they’re very excited to offer a FREE watercolour painting tutorial for kids, aged 8 to 16, via YouTube from now until 1 October.
Educational Hub from Australian Museum
The team at the Australian Museum have created a complete hub to keep kids busy these holidays, with everything from expedition videos, a virtual autopsy and downloadable activity sheets. You can piece together some creepy jigsaws, see some of their rare and unique natural science and cultural collection objects in 3D and enjoy online experiments and activities for kids to try at home.
Free Workshops from the State Library
Join the State Library of NSW for ‘Kids at the Library’, where they share a number of different free workshops for kids to enjoy. From ‘The Fabulous Food Quiz‘ and ‘Be a Designer: Costumes and Hats‘ to ‘Drawing with Andrea‘, each workshop has been tailored to different ages.
Wildlife Videos from Featherdale Wildlife Park
While you can’t go visit and have close encounters with the animals, your kids will love watching them on the screen. Featherdale will be dropping videos throughout lockdown, head to their Facebook page below for more.
