The twinkling lights of the Vivid Festival enchanted lucky passengers on the North Shore Mums Vivid Family Cruise over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend. While the rain and cold were a worry, by boarding time the weather gods were smiling and hordes of excited kids and grown-ups were hopping up and down with excitement, ready to set sail! The spectacular colours and glowing, graceful arches of the Harbour Bridge then provided a magical backdrop as families cruised the calm waters of Sydney Harbour, all in the name of charity.
For one hour, 350 awestruck North Shore Mums, dads, children and grandparents cruised around Sydney Harbour on board our vessel from Captain Cook, viewing the spectacular, mesmerizing lights of Vivid Festival from the best spot in the city!
While the rainbow colours were enough to keep the children enchanted, on top of that families also were treated to entertainment from Captain Crazy and Tinkerbell from StarDust Kids Parties & Events who set up a genius mini disco area on the top deck with lots of fun games and activities. Which also let happy parents and grandparents enjoy the lights (and sights) while sipping a drink.
And all the excitement and adveture was a good cause! We’re delighted to announce that the cruise raised $4800 for Cancer Council NSW.
Rachel Chappell, NSM Founder explains: ‘On Saturday 24 June, I’m taking to the stage and dancing in front of 400 people at Stars of the North: Dance for Cancer. As part of my involvement with the event, I pledged to raise $10,000 for Cancer Council NSW.
‘After a couple of weeks of posting on my personal Facebook page, I quickly realised that there was no way I was going to be able to reach my target through family and friends. So after posting in our Facebook group to see if there was interest, I was confident that we should be able to sell enough tickets to at least cover our costs. And fortunately we completely sold out the week before, and managed to raise $4800 for Cancer Council through this event. I’m absolutely delighted! Thank you to everyone who supported this event by buying tickets.’
Since the event, we’ve had lots of lovely feedback from North Shore Mums:
‘Thank you so much for organising the NSM Vivid Harbour Cruise last Saturday night. My family of five had a wonderful time being on the boat & seeing the city lights. My kids especially loved hanging out with the pirate! How lucky were we with the weather too. We live at Neutral Bay and it started pouring 5mins after we got home! Thanks again, you did a fabulous job organising it all.‘ – Suzanne.
