If it’s raining, too cold, too windy or too hot, escaping to an indoor play centre makes total sense. It gets you out of the house, and it gets the kids running around expending all that pent-up energy! To give you some ideas of fun play centres to try, we’ve compiled a list of all the local play centres around the North Shore, Northern Beaches and The Hills area.

Located on the top floor of Macquarie Centre, Chipmunks is a rainy day saviour. It has a huge open area with tables, and lots of different areas for children, Open 7 days, the air-conditioned playground offers a variety of adventurous and exciting activities suitable for children aged 0 – 11 years old. It has a great cafe with a wide variety of drinks, snacks and meals. Don’t forget your socks!

After much excitement from North Shore Mums, the second location of Wannabees opened in September 2017 at Westfield Hornsby. Wannabees is a unique play centre which is all about learning through play. Wannabees features a child size city featuring fire and police stations, hospital, post office, restaurant, gym, TV studio… children can dress up and make up their own adventures. For the dance enthusiasts and little performers a laser lit concert stage. For the littlest ones, there is a soft play area and a construction site. Moving Bodies features two separate (but nearby) areas for 0-2 year olds and older children. The soft play area has a sprung floor equipped with colourful, exploratory and fun soft play equipment. For the older kids (aged 3-11 years), an enticing three-storey soft play playground including a ball pit, fun slides and an array of climbing and obstacle levels awaits.
Although there is no cafe on site, there is a coffee machine where you can purchase an array of hot drinks. Bring some coins, it’s $2 a drink.

Inflatable World launched at Action Indoor Sports in mid 2015, and has been hugely popular with kids young and old ever since. It’s basically a huge blow-up playground, full of different bouncy fun rides to enjoy. There’s a separate area for toddlers (4 years and younger), and a huge area for everyone else. Inflatable World is really popular with big kids too! There’s a cafe on site, selling coffee, ice creams and snacks.
It’s only open on the weekend and during school holidays, so be sure to check the Inflatable World Facebook page to get the latest opening hours. Don’t forget to pack socks!

Kidz Connexion is a bit different to other play centres, as it is outdoors (but all undercover), which means you can enjoy the fresh air, but the sounds of the kids laughing and screaming don’t echo and ring in your ears. Along with the 2-story climbing frame, slides and ball pit they also have a large spring free trampoline, see saw and a separate area with balancing equipment, trikes, scooters, smaller climbing frames and bouncy balls.
The Cafe and the enclosed ‘Under 3’ section is inside (with clear view and easy access to the climbing frame) and heated.

The Sand Bucket Play Centre is a great place to bring your children to run off some energy! While you relax and enjoy a coffee and some food at the café, your children will enjoy the seven slippery dips, three levels, two ball pits, two flying foxes and loads of soft play equipment.

Cheeky Monkeys Play House provides all the fun and action of a triple dipper slide, ‘Cheeky Tots’ (Toddlers area), a Computer Room for Techno Toys and Games, a Flashing Dance Disco and a huge kid-friendly slot-car racing circuit for junior rev heads!

Little Rascals Playland does things a little differently – it’s a members-only play centre, which provide unlimited access six days a week for $12.95 per week (1 adult and 1 child). It provides a fun, safe and secure play environment for kids to play and burn energy whilst having a great time and being active. It’s fully air-conditioned, clean and there is plenty of nearby free parking.
The below fees include unlimited access for one child and one adult.

Stomping Ground is now open during the week for 0-5 year olds! Previously an amazing spot for Kids Birthday Parties for kids 6 to 12 years old and School Holiday activities, the owners have recognised the need for more indoor play options for little ones (where mums can relax with a coffee too!). The Play Centre includes inflatables, soft play, private space for Mums groups, a feeding area with comfy chairs and the latest mags and a cafe.

The Playland includes a giant play frame with an inflatable jumping castle, super high walk-bridge, speed slide, bouncy slide, ball pits, dedicated toddlers area, play-believe areas, playstation consoles and a ride-on cars section providing hours of jumping, sliding and climbing for children up to 11. The onsite cafe also provides great coffee, snacks, fresh salads, full meals and a wide selection for the kids. There is easy parking, and it’s air conditioned… meaning it’s a great place to escape on a hot day too!

Kids Playland is a dedicated indoor play centre where children up to 5 years of age can play happily with a wide range of play equipment. An array of games and toys, ball pits, cars, riders, climbing tumbles, jumping castles and much more.
Please note: Wizzy World in Chatswood has temporarily closed down from August 2017 until further notice.
